History
MH Bland, established in 1810 by Marcus Henry Bland, recognized Gibraltar’s strategic position as a key port between the Mediterranean and Atlantic. After three generations of the Bland family, the company was sold to Joseph Gaggero in 1891. Since then, the Gaggero family has led the company, expanding its operations from a shipping agency to include salvage, ship owning, towage, airlines, and running ferries across the Strait of Gibraltar. They also built and operate the Cable Car, a popular tourist attraction. MH Bland’s growth parallels the development of Gibraltar itself, establishing a strong presence in the maritime and tourism sectors over its 200-year history.
