History

İstanbul & Marmara, Aegean, The Mediterranean, Black Sea Regions Chamber of Shipping, named as the Turkish Chamber of Shipping (TCS), was first founded as Istanbul Chamber of Shipping in 1982 and later its area has been extended gradually to cover the regions of the Sea of Marmara and the coasts of Aegean Sea, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea together with the inland waters of Turkey. The main office of TCS is located in Istanbul. TCS has branch offices in Izmir, Bodrum, Marmaris, Aliağa, Antalya, İskenderun, Fethiye, Karadeniz Ereğli and Kocaeli and also comprises 15 representative offices along the coastal towns and cities of Turkey

Philosophy

The mission of TCS is to ensure Turkish Shipping Sector’s development in a free and fair competition atmosphere; to increase its international competition strength and to provide its contribution to the development of Turkey in cooperation with the public and private sectors; to provide the right and timely services and information to our members with an ever increasing understanding of service and to eliminate the obstacles in the international and national regulations which hinders the development of shipping. The vision of TCS is to make Turkey “a Maritime Nation and a Maritime Country”.
