Profile
The Council of La Ràpita, together with the Port Authority, Ports of Catalonia, the Chamber of Commerce of Tortosa and the Tarragona Province Tourism Board, promotes its port and destination under the brand Delta Ebre Port. La Ràpita is located in Ebro Delta Nature Park (Terres de l’Ebre, Catalonia, Spain) a region declared Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2013. It is a perfect port for small and medium size cruises, and offers all facilities that cruise companies may need.
The Ebro Delta Natural Park with its remarkable diversity of wildlife is one of the most important wetland areas in the Mediterranean. Its flora and fauna make it exceptional and unique. It is estimated that between 50,000 and 100,000 birds from 300 different species live in the Ebro Delta. Among these, the flamingo and Audouin’s gull deserve a special mention.
The damp climate favours the presence of insects which, in turn, provide food for birdlife, and the various degrees of salinity in the waters mean that there are many different fish species living here too.
The Ebro Delta, formed from silt carried by the river, has many kilometres of almost deserted beaches which, together with the lagoons and rice fields, form a changing landscape that varies with each season.
A boat trip, the cycle routes or the strategically located bird-watching hides allow you to see up close these spectacular landscapes of the southern Catalan coast.
