The Port of Barcelona has officially signed the contract sealing the organisation of the next Seatrade Med 2014 in Barcelona. After Italy and France the event continues to expand in the Mediterranean region and moves to Spain for the first time.

Seatrade Med is an international exhibition for the cruise industry which takes place every two years in the Mediterranean. Previous exhibitions were held in Genoa (Italy) from 1996 to 2004 in Naples (Italy) in 2006 Venice (Italy) in 2008 Cannes (France) in 2010 and Marseille (France) 2012.

The Port of Barcelona as the local host for Seatrade Med 2014 will organize the event for the first time also for Spain and we believe that it will be a great opportunity for MedCruise to have a strong present in the event showing the extraordinary areas and the ports we represent. The great challenge for the Mediterranean is to continue the growth as we did the last ten years and be able to attract tourists also from the new fast growing market of Asia. We want our area to be the first destination around the word and we will work for that with the port of Barcelona.

This key event in the cruise industry is traditionally hosted by a MedCruise member port and the Association participates in every edition with a very strong presence being its pavilion the main attraction of the exhibition.

MedCruise President Stavros Hatzakos stated: “The hosting of this event in Barcelona is a wonderful opportunity for the region to continue attracting cruise lines and to give international promotion to the area and its cruise destinations. We want to congratulate Barcelona for winning the bid as well as thanking the other members who participated We look forward to a successful event that we help us to grow even more and we are already starting the preparation of MedCruise´s participation as principal sponsor.”
