The Naples Maritime Station, managed by Terminal Napoli SpA, remains a central and strategic hub for tourists and the city, thanks to two important developments that improve its accessibility and interconnection with the city center and other Italian cities.
The opening of the Municipio Square Metro Tunnel represents a significant step for the city of Naples: the new underground connection facilitates the flow of tourists from the Maritime Station to the city center and vice versa, and directly to the trains of Metro Line 1, which reaches the Central Station of Piazza Garibaldi and, in 2025, also the airport. Thanks to this infrastructure, transit times have been reduced, and the efficiency of public transport has been improved, benefiting the movements of citizens and tourists who have chosen to visit Naples by train and by plane.
In parallel, with the inauguration on August 5th of the second new direct Trenitalia connection with the Frecciarossa 1000 at 21:53, which will link Rome Fiumicino Airport with the Central Station of Naples, a new era of passenger transport intermodality in Southern Italy begins. This high-speed rail connection, which joins the Frecciarossa at 9:38 from Fiumicino Airport to Naples and the opposite direction at 5:45, will facilitate travel between the two cities and promote the development of synergies between the Port of Naples and Rome Fiumicino Airport. Travelers will be able to enjoy an efficient and convenient service, facilitating trade and tourism exchanges between the two regions.
The Maritime Station, in the heart of the city of Naples, is thus integrated into tourist routes, capable of offering advanced and sustainable mobility solutions. These projects have demonstrated the commitment of local institutions and major transport operators to enhance the potential of the city’s territory.
