Cruise tο Savona !
Located in North West Italy, near the airports of Genoa (32km), Nice-Cote d’Azur (159km) and Milan (217km), the port of Savona is homeport of Costa Crociere ships and it is leader in the Mediterranean Sea for cruises. From the end of 1996 to 2015, in little more than 19 years of activity, more than 10 million passengers have passed through the cruise terminal of Savona.
Costa Crociere is the cruise company that manages directly the two cruise terminals inside the port of Savona. Palacrociere Terminal West is the passenger terminal realised in partnership with the Port Authority in 2003 and Palacrociere Terminal East is a new facility launched in November 2014, financed entirely by Costa Crociere. This second terminal, that is connected with Terminal West by a bridge, increases Palacrociere’s indoor space to 11,000sq mtr, while the total area, indoors and out, covers 45,500sq mtr.
The Palacrociere is specifically conceived to offer the highest comforts to passengers (covered bus coach parking area, parking areas for buses and cars, bar/restaurant with panorama terrace, VIP lounge, children & teens club. internet cafe, conference centre, interactive areas with 34 plasma video displays, crew room and recreation space for crews) with efficient and safe operations (12 luggage x-ray control system, 8 walk-through metal detector, explosive detector system, CCTV system to control internal and external areas).
The two dedicated quays (450mtr and 325mtr) allow the simultaneous docking of three cruise vessels, with up to 12,000 passengers flowing through the terminal during the same day. Though the terminal’s core activity is homeport traffic, the number of transit passengers is remarkably increasing (it currently covers 33% of the total), thanks to the attractive tourist destinations lying near Savona.
Savona combines the charm of a historic centre with the modernity of new docks made by international designers. The sixteenth-century fortress (Priamar) the Medieval monuments, the cathedral and Sistine Chapel, four kilometres of beaches and the enchanting Italian Riviera are only some of the tourist attractions that people cruising Savona can visit.
