The cruise season in the Port of Thessaloniki commenced today for the second consecutive year with the arrival of the cruise ship “Celebrity Infinity” from Celebrity Cruises, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Group. The first cruise ship of the year arrived with a high occupancy and will stay overnight, departing on February 5. Representatives from the Region of Central Macedonia, the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, and ThPA S.A. welcomed the first cruise visitors, offering them useful informative material about the destination and traditional local sweets. For the third consecutive year, Celebrity Cruises has included Thessaloniki in its itineraries, with the “Celebrity Infinity” expected to visit the port of Thessaloniki a total of twenty-one (21) times in 2025, eight (8) of which with overnight stays scheduled, offering passengers and crew the opportunity to explore the multicultural, gastronomic, and tourist identity of the city.
Cruise in Thessaloniki continues to develop dynamically, as 20 different cruise ships of 14 leading cruise companies have included the destination in their itineraries, including 10 vessels expected to call at the Port of Thessaloniki for the first time. In addition, on February 6 the first call of the newly built “Viking Star” of Viking is expected, whilst, in 2025, Astoria Grande, Emerald Cruises, and Ritz Carlton are including the destination of Thessaloniki in their cruises for the first time, with the schedule of arrivals remaining dynamic.
“The Port of Thessaloniki offers the advantage of being a homeport in the heart of a unique destination, with direct access to global landmarks. The continuous enhancement of the services and infrastructure of ThPA S.A. solidifies the trust of the cruise companies that choose it, promoting Thessaloniki and the wider region as an ideal cruise destination. A typical example for 2025 is Crystal Cruises, which includes Thessaloniki as a homeport in the itineraries of the “Crystal Symphony”, as part of its commitment to offer exceptional experiences to its passengers”, commented the Executive Chairman of the BoD of ThPA S.A., Athanasios Liagkos.
