The FBA delegation represented by its president, Jesús Posadas, and its manager, Fabio Laborda, presented the initiatives and plans of the foundation to position Almeria on the map of the main cruise destinations in the Mediterranean. Also present at the event were the president of the Port Authority of Almeria, Rosario Soto accompanied by Borja Fernández and Mari Ángeles Guarnido, the councilor delegate for Tourism, Communication and Promotion of the City of Almeria, Joaquín Pérez de la Blanca and José Antonio González, Tourism technician of the Provincial Council of Almeria, along with other members of the three institutions that work together for the promotion of tourism in the province. Pérez de la Blanca, indicated that “the City Council of Almeria continues its efforts together with the Port Authority and the Bahía Almeriport Foundation to consolidate Almeria as a cruise destination”.
During the fair, the FBA held meetings with shipping companies that already operate in Almeria, such as Seadreams and WindStar, with the purpose of strengthening collaboration with the aim of maintaining the influx of cruise ships in our port. Likewise, negotiations were carried out with new operators and potential partners interested in including Almeria in their cruise itineraries, including companies such as Saga Cruises, Scenic Cruises, OPS, Abercrombie and Kent – which have already begun operating in our city – as well as other important companies such as Ponant, Alma Cruises, Expedition Experience or Club Med.
Seatrade Cruise Med is the largest cruise fair in the Mediterranean and a crucial meeting point for major operators, destinations and ports. With the strong presence of the FBA in this past event, the strategy for the promotion and development of cruise tourism is reinforced, as an engine of economic growth for Almeria.
