The Port of San Sebastian de La Gomera, managed by the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, expects to receive around 100 calls from 15 different cruise ship brands in 2022, confirming the recovery of the cruise operations after the shutdown due to the global pandemic.
La Gomera offers a unique and exclusive destination plenty of surprises for cruise passengers such as the UNESCO heritage National Park of Garajonay and two amazing beaches, just 100 metres from the port.
Statistics from all ports managed by Tenerife Ports show the mentioned recovery after pandemic and in some cases, even increasing compared to 2019. La Gomera welcomed 87 cruise calls in 2021, 36 more than in 2019. On the other hand, El Hierro managed 33 cruise ships last year, three times the figures achieved in 2019. La Palma handled 90 calls in 2021, which is a bit less than in 2019, but reservations for 2022 increased notably as well as the number of cruise lines visiting the island.
The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is really committed with the cruise traffic in all ports and invests constantly in improving facilities. For instance, new bollards are being placed in different ports as well as the improvement of some facilities for a better passenger experience, such as the Yokohama fenders for cruise ships installed in La Gomera. Moreover, all ports managed by the Port Authority as well as the local companies operating in Tenerife Ports are following the sanitary protocols according to the required measures and implementing procedures to guarantee passenger’s safety and health.
