MedCruise Association represented by MedCruise Secretary General Thanos Pallis participated at the International conference entitled “Opportunities and Challenges for Territorial Integration of Seaports: ICT Infrastructures and Services” which was held in Valencia March 27th 2014.
During the conference key experts from European institutions and ports from the Mediterranean and Northern Europe discussed accessibility and Port-Hinterland integration while various present and future ICT solutions for cargo and cruise passengers were presented.
Invited by FUTUREMED partners MedCruise Secretary General Thanos Pallis presented the current trends challenges and requests in the Mediterranean Cruise Market and explained the way ICT might contribute to the development of new solutions and services improving the cruise passenger experience.
FUTUREMED is developed under the MED Programme European Territorial Cooperation 2007-2013. The aim is to improve the competitiveness of port systems in the MED area by improving accessibility through technology and procedural innovations and guaranteeing sustainability of transport. The idea focuses on the realization of interoperable management information systems and on the reduction of externalities. The project intends to define and implement by means of concerted territorial actions and pilot projects sustainable middle and long-term development strategies. These will be focused on: the removal of the current barriers concerning accessibility of ports (seaside and landside); the integration of ports with the hinterland the development of logistics activities and intermodal transport connected with ports the development of infomobility aiming at fostering attractiveness and making port system more efficient the specialization of port systems.
