Strengthening cooperation and driving sustainable growth across the Mediterranean and beyond, MedCruise takes centre stage in Miami with strategic insights and high-impact networking.
MedCruise, the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports, was present at Seatrade Cruise Global 2025, held in Miami from 7th to 10th April, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the event. This milestone edition welcomed over 11,000 attendees, 600+ exhibitors, and representatives from more than 120 countries and 70 cruise companies.
At Booth 1600, MedCruise members held over 70 B2B meetings throughout the week, making the stand a lively hub for networking, reaffirming the Mediterranean’s relevance in global cruise dialogues.
MedCruise joined forces with Cruise Baltic, Cruise Norway, Cruise Britain and Cruise Europe to present a joint initiative aimed at addressing infrastructure, environmental integration, and community engagement across more than 400 cruise ports. This collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to creating a more sustainable and resilient cruise industry. The Associations met during the event and welcomed colleagues from the New Zealand Cruise Association, and the Australian Cruise Association.
On Monday, 7th April, Theodora Riga, President of MedCruise and President of the Corfu Port Authority, took part in a Seatrade Cruise Talks video alongside Anne-Marie Spinosi, Senior Vice President of MedCruise and Cruise Manager Corsica Ports, and Laura Cimaglia, Vice President of MedCruise and Director of General and International Affairs at the Port of Taranto. The discussion, moderated by Holly Payne, Deputy Editor of Seatrade Cruise News & Seatrade Cruise Review, explored the critical role of ports and cruise associations in shaping the future of the industry.
That same day, the President also represented MedCruise at the World Cruise Tourism Summit: State of the Cruise Industry – Regional Updates from Around the World session, presenting the Association’s vision for sustainable port development, innovative itineraries, and enriched guest experiences. The session was moderated by Ioannis Bras, CEO of Five Senses Consulting & Development and a member of MedCruise.
On Tuesday, 8 April, the President led the much-anticipated Trends in the MED session, offering key insights into the region’s cruise activity, current initiatives, and strategic priorities.
Also on Tuesday, Anne-Marie Spinosi participated in the panel titled Advancing Sustainability in the Cruise Industry: Challenges, Solutions, and Collaborative Action, where leading figures discussed joint strategies to address industry-wide sustainability challenges.
On Wednesday, 9 April, Laura Cimaglia contributed to the session titled Navigating Prosperity: The Economic Impact of Cruising on Local Economies. The session, moderated by Ioannis Bras, explored best practices and success stories in local economic development through cruise tourism.
Additionally, the MedCruise booth hosted a dedicated presentation by Cemar Agency Network, focusing on cruise industry forecasts and market insights for Italian ports in 2025.
Further contributions to the week’s programme were made by MedCruise members and partners including Cruise Saudi, Ege Port Kusadasi & Bodrum, Port of Barcelona, BC Group, Five Senses Consulting & Development, and Intercruises, who participated in several high-level sessions.
Seatrade Cruise Global 2025 reaffirmed the importance of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability in the cruise sector. MedCruise remains dedicated to supporting its members and enhancing the Mediterranean’s position as a key player in the global cruise market.
