MedCruise participated at the meeting of the passenger committee of the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) contributing to the attempts of European ports to set initiatives increasing the awarnees on the challenges of cruise ports.

Thanos Pallis the secretary general of MedCruise along with BoD members Bojan Babic and Carla Salvado had the opportunity to discuss ways that they could best collaborate with other regional associations like Cruise Europe and along the association representing European port authorities help their membership share experiences and practices on applied policies and provided services and facilitate the achieving excellence in the interface and interaction between the passengers and the ports.

During the meeting port representatives expressed their positive reaction to the European Commission’s decision to forward a proposal to revise the EU’s visa code for third-country visitors to the Schengen passport-free area. The aim of the revision is to shorten and simplify the procedures for those wanting to come to the EU for short stays with the objective of boosting economic activity and job creation.

The meeting was held in Riga Latvia with participating ports and port associations expressing the interest and intention to further activities that would strengthen the advocacy of the interests of the cruise port industry in Europe and beyond.
