The cruise season 2021 starts with MSC Splendida, the biggest cruise ship to enter the Port of Ancona
Cruise resumption in Ancona with the biggest cruise ship ever to enter the port. From the 13th of June, MSC Splendida will leave every Sunday from the Port of Ancona for 15 weekly routes to Greece, Croatia, (Montenegro), Bari and Trieste.
The arrival of MSC Splendida is the result of a strong teamwork of local institutions, of the Port Authority and the Harbour Master, in close cooperation with the shipping company, in the firm belief that the cruise market will have a strategic role in the development of sustainable tourism for Ancona and the Marche region.
The restart of the cruise sector in Ancona and Marche region was made possible from the application of the COVID protocols, agreed upon by the company both on-board and during the excursions. Therefore, despite the COVID restrictions, several itineraries are offered by Ancona and the territory nearby to demonstrate the potential of the Marche region as a cruise destination: Ancona, its old port area, the heritage and its natural parks above the sea are the main attraction. Other itineraries bring cruise passengers to discover the Frasassi caves, the Conero Riviera with its beautiful villages, and the Senigallia “gold” beach.
