Port of Bastia had the pleasure to welcome on September 13th, the maiden call in Corsica of the Seven Seas Explorer.

The President of Bastia and North Corsica Chamber of Commerce and Industry, M. Paul Trojani,  presented the Medal of Honour of his institution to Captain Rosario Giovanni Vasta during a ceremony held on board, followed by an exceptional visit of the most luxurious ship in the world.

758 guests  were greeted on this inaugural call with a local delights tasting and a special present in each cabin of the ship.  Three bislingual hostesses provided them tourist information and 13 coaches took them on excursion during this beautiful summer day.

Among the wide of tours proposed, The most attractive tours in Bastia were the city tour including the visit of the Museum, nestled in the 17th century Palace of the Genoese Governors and the discovery of the reknowned vineyards of Patrimonio with a very appreciated wine tasting.

For 2016, 22 cruise calls are scheduled in Bastia bringing in approximately 22 000 passengers, a significant 100% increase from 2015 essentially due to regular calls from Zenith and Horizon, 2 of this year new comers.

Port of Bastia is a leading member of the Corsica Cruise Club, an active promotional community formed by port authorities, local authorities and tourist boards from Bastia, Calvi, l’Ile Rousse and Saint Florent, which main purpose is to provide a global but diversified offer to cruise companies calling in North Corsica.

This year, 82 calls for 55 000 passengers are globally expected in North Corsica ports, including 7 maiden calls from 6 different cruise lines.
