After the announcement of 18 extra cruise ship calls at the port of Heraklion until the end of the year with 34.290 extra passengers, the arrivals started the weekend of 15th and 16th of August with an old and a new acquaintance.
Specifically on Saturday the 15th of August 2015, COSTA CLASSICA of COSTA CROCIERE arrived with 1518 passengers and 620 crew members and Sunday the 16th of August 2015 Heraklion Port Authority welcomed the seventh maiden call for this year (“STAR PRIDE” of “WINDSTAR CRUISES”, “EMERALD PRINCESS” of “PRINCESS CRUISES”, “ORIANA” of “P&O CRUISES”, “CELESTYAL ODYSSEY” of “CELESTYAL CRUISES”, “ASUKA II” of “NYK CRUISES”, “QUEEN VICTORIA” of “CUNARD ” and “AIDA STELLA” of “AIDA CRUISES” ) with “AIDA STELLA” carrying 2,600 passengers and 620 crew members.
The port exchanged commemorative plaques, informational material and gifts with the captain and the passengers had the chance to enjoy a Cretan traditional dances show and tasted Cretan traditional products on the welcome of the ship in his maiden call in Heraklion port, which will call another five times by the end of 2015.
In addition, on the 18th of August we had the pleasure to welcome again in Heraklion Port the “Emerald Princess” of “Princess Cruises” with 3127 passengers. Within the framework of the events that Heraklion Port Authority’s Management organizes for the cruise ships and in close cooperation with our partners, the City of Heraklion, the Chamber of Commerce and the Region of Crete, the port planned a very special day of various events for all the passengers. A ”party station” in the passenger terminal with Dj’s with creative surprises (flash mob’s), Cooking Classes of Cretan and Greek Cuisine and the Heraklion City Philharmonic band playing a special Concert while the ship was departing.
The Chairman and Managing Director of Heraklion Port Authority Mr. Brass stated: “The efforts of the Management and the close collaboration with all local authorities highlight once again the relative merits of Heraklion destination, the security offered in our port and our very simple goal: “Exceed guest expectations every time“. This is realized via our 5-Sesnses model (an award-winning model -14 awards) a unique system that allows the Culture and Agriculture to be combined with Tourism.
Finally, Heraklion Port Authority will participate in the SEATRADE EUROPE CRUISE & RIVER CRUISE CONVENTION 2015, which will take place in Hamburg, Germany on 9th to 11th of September 2015.
