Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Allure of the Seas visited the Port of Malaga for the first time last April 29th, after crossing the Atlantic Ocean from Fort Lauderdale, being Malaga her first call in Europe, as her sister ship Oasis of the Seas already did in September last year.

She was docked in the cruise-dedicated Eastern Area, next to Terminal A, the newest one for the greatest cruise ships, built in 2011.

During the call, the traditional exchange of commemorative plaques took place between the Captain of the vessel and the local authorities, led by the Port Authority of Malaga and the City Council of Malaga.

State-of-the-art facilities for cruise ships available at the Port of Malaga allow this ship to dock, and do so easily and with all the services she may need.

Allure of the Seas’ next call in Malaga is scheduled for October 27th, before repositioning back across the Atlantic Ocean.

On 29th April, besides Allure of the Seas, AIDAsol and Sea Cloud II also visited the Port of Malaga, with 8,588 passengers and 3,200 crew members, adding up to 11,788 in total for the day.

ALLURE OF THE SEAS’ SPECTACULAR FIGURES

Allure of the Seas has a length of 362 meters, which is roughly equivalent to 4 football fields, a beam of 64 meters, and 65 meters height from sea level.

On board the 16 passenger decks she can accommodate 5,400 people, a figure reaching 6,318 when the third bed in her cabins is used. Adding the 2,394 crew members, the capacity runs up to 8,712.

The ship has 2,706 cabins, from which more than a half have a balcony, and 28 modern loft suites with sea views. RCCL’s ‘Oasis Class’, to which both Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas belong, is the first one with the concept of “neighborhoods”.

CRUISE FACILITIES IN THE PORT OF MALAGA

Cruise facilities in the Port of Malaga have improved greatly in the last few years.

Two new piers and cruise terminals B and A for the greatest cruise ships in the Eastern Area are new from 2008 and 2011; plus a third cruise terminal in the inner basin new from 2012, next to the Palm Grove of Surprises city-port operation, for cruise ships up to 200 meters.
