MSC Poesia called Leixões on May, 6. She was on her 14-day voyage from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Warnemunde (Rostock), Germany with more than 1.400 passengers on board also calling at Genoa, Marseille, Barcelona, Lisbon, Ferrol, Southampton, Le Havre, Gothenburg and Copenhagen. MSC POESIA is owned and operated by MSC Cruises. She was named in 2008 by the Italian actress Sophia Loren. She is 294 meters long by 60 meters high and 32 meters wide and has a capacity for more than 3,000 passengers.

Silver Moon chose Leixões as one of the ports to visit on her 12-day trip from Lisbon to Southampton, also visiting Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Bordeaux, Saint-Malo, Rouen and Honfleur. SILVER MOON is an ultra-luxury cruise ship that incorporates the Green Star 3 Design certification awarded to ships designed, built and equipped with a special focus on environmental issues. She is owned and operated by Silversea Cruises and arrived in Leixões on May, 7 with 500 passengers on board, mostly North Americans and British.

To commemorate MSC Poesia and Silver Moon debuts at the Port of Leixões, the usual Plaque Exchange Ceremonies were held on the Porto Cruise Terminal quay joining Port Authorities and ships Captains.
