On September 20th, the Ports of Toulon bay were happy to welcome the 4th unexpected cruise call over a fortnight!

After the TUI Discovery visit a few days before, followed by the Sovereign that arrived one day prior to its scheduled call and the MS Hebridean Sky on September 17th, the Star Pride made an unexpected call in Toulon bay last Wednesday, September 20th.

In 2016, The Ports of Toulon bay accommodated 8 rerouted cruise ships (about 12 600 pax) and already a total of 12 rerouted cruise ships since the beginning of 2017 (about 17 000 pax).

Located in the most sheltered bay in the Med, the Ports of Toulon Bay which are the gateway to visit both Provence and French Riviera, ensure 100% berth allocation and accommodate every year between 8 to 15 unexpected cruise ships unable to berth at neighbour Mediterranean ports, mainly due to bad weather conditions.

The Ports of Toulon Bay (Toulon/La Seyne-sur-Mer) are incontestably the leaders of Var Provence, hosting 45% of total calls and 76% of the passengers. Their high security standards, including full ISPS compliance and the presence of the French Navy base in the Bay, as well as their advantageous geographical position that allows cruise vessels to berth under all weather conditions, make them a first-choice destination.

The Var Chamber of Commerce and Industry – running ports operations – has made significant investments to develop excellent infrastructures able to accommodate the mega-ships. 2016 was a turning point with the inauguration of a brand-new cruise terminal at La Seyne-sur-Mer and important renovation works at Toulon City-Centre’s cruise terminal.

The ports of Toulon bay are glad to host the 51st MedCruise General Assembly from 11-14 October 2017, an ideal opportunity to put Toulon under the cruise industry spotlights!
