The Port Authority of Volos is pleased to announce that the work of removing debris from the cruise ship pier of the port is underway and will be completed by March 31, 2025. This will restore the operating depths to their prior condition, ensuring a depth of 9.5 meters at the cruise ship mooring point.

The Port of Volos suffered extensive damage during the devastating floods of 2023. Approximately 700,000 cubic meters of debris were deposited in the port basin, significantly reducing operating depths and creating serious challenges for cruise ship docking.

With the debris removal now in progress, the restoration of the port’s functionality is on track to meet the needs of cruise ships once again.

The Port of Volos encourages cruise operators to consider adjusting their ships’ plans and including Volos in their itineraries for this year and is optimistic about a positive response from the industry.
