Sun Princess
The Port of Tenerife celebrated the first docking of the Sun Princess, a state-of-the-art cruise ship belonging to the Princess Cruises fleet, consigned by PAHO. This milestone reinforces Tenerife’s position as a strategic destination for high-capacity and sustainable cruise ships.
The Sun Princess, with capacity for 4,300 passengers and a crew of approximately 1,600, stands out for its innovative approach to design and energy efficiency. During its stay in Tenerife, the ship carried out a liquefied natural gas (LNG) loading operation, underscoring the port’s capacity to manage cleaner and more sustainable fuel.
The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife presented a plaque to Captain Craig Street, an experienced professional with more than 34 years of experience at Princess Cruises, in recognition of this first docking. The team had the opportunity to visit Sun Princess’ impressive facilities, which combine luxury and comfort with a focus on reducing environmental impact.
This event marks another step in the Port of Tenerife’s commitment to sustainability and the ability to host large-scale cruise ships that operate with cleaner technologies. The arrival of the Sun Princess consolidates Tenerife as a key port for shipping companies looking for destinations prepared for the challenges of the future.
