Tenerife Ports promotes its five cruise ports in the main exhibition of the cruise industry

One more year, Tenerife Ports representatives attended the most important exhibition of the cruise industry worldwide, Seatrade Cruise Global, that took place in Miami (Florida, USA) in April, 26th-28th.

In this occasion, the President, Director and Commercial Director represented Tenerife Ports, sharing booth with the other members of Cruise Atlantic Islands, promoting the region known as Macaronesia.

Multiple events have taken place over the three days. The representatives of Tenerife Ports have met with different shipping companies to promote the 5 cruise ports managed by the Port Authority, empathising on luxury cruise companies that stand out for offering more exclusive ports; so, the ports of Los Cristianos, La Estaca, Santa Cruz de la Palma and San Sebastián de La Gomera have been promoted and offered to this luxury cruise lines.

Moreover, the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been promoted as well, highlighting its potential as a homeport (stopover where cruise companies begin their itinerary). In these line, the island of Tenerife was also promoted as a tourist destination and its air connections such as the new United Airlines route that will link Tenerife with New York to expand the American market.

During the exhibition, the booth was for 2023 was booked, so Tenerife Ports will promote its four islands as a cruise destination, also, next year in the largest event in the industry worldwide.

At the same time, as partners of Cruise Atlantic Islands, they participated in a meeting of the Association to discuss the new joint promotion strategy for the region.

As a member of the Executive Committee of MedCruise, the Commercial Director of the Port of Tenerife, participated in meetings of the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports.

Tenerife will also participate in the next cruise industry event that will take place in Malaga in September 2022 and next May in the general assembly of MedCruise that will take place in Palamós.

The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife manages 5 cruise ports located in 4 different islands and is really committed with the cruise traffic in all ports and invests constantly in improving facilities. For instance, new bollards are being placed in different ports as well as the improvement of some facilities for a better passenger experience. Moreover, all ports managed by the Port Authority as well as the local companies operating in Tenerife Ports are following the sanitary protocols according to the required measures and implementing procedures to guarantee passenger’s safety and health.

In this line, the promotion to attract more cruise traffic in Tenerife Ports includes all ports managed by the PA, but emphasising the smaller ports in the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma as well as the port of Los Cristianos (Tenerife), which are mainly focused on luxury and expedition cruise lines due to the size of the ships and the exclusivity of the destinations. As mentioned before, the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is also promoted, but highlighting its potential as a homeport.
