For the first time the “mountain cruise day” took place on Tuesday October 21st, from 9 am for the entire day in Villefranche sur Mer, for cruise passengers from Liberty of the Seas (RCCL) and Grand holiday (Iberocruceros).
Organized by the city of Villefranche-sur-Mer and the French Riviera cruise club, this day event combines “sailing and mountain” where cruise passengers from both ships and different nationalities can discover and enjoy a festive day to show that the mountain is about an hour drive from the sea coast.
With a group of Alphorn musicians playing a typical music from the Alps, the shops and restaurants welcomed passengers and crew members in a mountain atmosphere.
This event was open to all with the idea make them come back on vacation in our destination during winter period.
All the tourism partners from the area were able to present their new products for the coming winter season: the General Council of the Alpes Maritimes to promote activities like discovery of wild animals, mountain cycling, horseback riding, the Tourist Board Riviera (CRT) to present the new “Cote d’azur-CARD”, as well as various Tourist offices from ski resorts as Mercantour and Valberg.
This mountain activities and benefits are also one the main themed “outdoor activities”, proposed to the cruise lines by the French Riviera cruise club in their new catalog “A Cruise of discovery”.
