2022 is a record year for Bastia with 50 calls scheduled, most of them from luxury cruise lines for which a wide range of shore excursions, tailor-made for their guests, is offered.
From the last 2 years, the Chamber of Commerce of Corsica, Port Authority of the Port of Bastia, has developed several new slow tourism tours, notably in a European Project called R-ITINERA along to 4 other French and Italian partners.
The aim of R-ITINERA is to promote new immersive and sustainable ecotourism experiences, offering “Zero Emission Excursions” for the luxury cruise market in 5 different regions: Corsica, Var, Liguria, Tuscany and Sardinia.
The R-ITINERA project is part of the European Interreg Italy France Maritime Programme 2020-2026, cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
More globally, Corsica Ports will receive 473 cruise calls in 2022, including 18 maiden calls and 4 new cruise lines, an increase of 135% over 2021 (+ 200 calls).
