The Port Authority of Huelva participates for the third year at the most important fair in the world of the cruise industry, Cruise Shipping Miami, held between 17 and 19 March in Miami Beach Convention Center, in order to promote Huelva as a cruise destination.

The Port of Huelva participates with other Andalusian ports in the Suncruise Andalucía space within the Spanish Ports stand. The stand “Ports of Spain”, with about 700 m2, is home to 25 port authorities and companies in sectors related to port activity and tourism.

The assistance of the Port of Huelva to this event, which brings together 900 companies from 125 countries, according to organizers, has been a major quantitative step for the Port of Huelva as cruise destination. In fact, this year expects to receive visits of eight cruise ships and 10,000 visitors among which passengers and crew.

The Manager and Commercial Department of the Port of Huelva expect to maintain numerous business meetings with various companies to further consolidate the destination and attract new vessels.

The representatives of the Port of Huelva have released the characteristics of the South Dock, located in the outer harbor, and Levante, in the center of the city, which are prepared for the arrival of cruise ships.

Especially, the South Pier, located in the entrance channel to the Port, has been designed to accommodate cruise traffic with large vessels. While Levante dock has the advantage of being located five minutes from downtown.

In terms of tourism resources, representatives of the Port of Huelva have released the history of Puerto de Huelva as Port Discovery of America, and places associated with Gesta Colombina as the Monastery of La Rabida and the spring of caravels, where the recreation of the caravels in which Christopher Columbus set out to discover the new world.

They have also promoted the relationship of Port of Huelva and the province with the British due to exports of copper and metal mines of Rio Tinto. Proof of this is the Rio Tinto mineral loading and the great English legacy that remains in the city of Huelva and the Columbus House, Queen Victoria Quarter or the English cemetery. To this the possibilities to visit the Rio Tinto mines and mining museum adds and make a train ride along the river Tinto, which are conducted research on Mars.

The environmental wealth of the province is another of its attractions. The Port of Huelva is located along the Odiel Marshes Nature Reserve, a biosphere reserve. Other natural resources of the province are the Park of Doñana and the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park, the Cave of Wonders of Aracena and over 120 miles of unspoilt beaches.

The rich and varied cuisine also conquer visitors, especially the popular shrimp and ham and coastal fish, meats and sausages from the Sierra, strawberry, red fruits and citrus fruits, wines, vinegars County and brandy and pastures inhabited by the bull.

The proximity to the monumental city of Seville and the Portuguese Algarve set another attraction of Huelva destination, since both places are located 45 minutes from the city.

The Port of Huelva has created a Cruise Observatory, which has been renamed, Huelva Cruise Network, in which other institutions and business organizations, among others, has been working intensively on organizing workshops to advance the present welcoming visitors once they reach the destination and the provision of quality services.
