Tangier has been recognised for a long time in the world’s imagination as a city of exchanges, cosmopolitan and mysterious. Known as the International city in the past, it is also one of the oldest Mediterranean cities, and it still keeps the traces of civilizations and cultures who have marked its history: Phoenicians, Romans, Carthaginian, Byzantine, Vandals, Arabs, …
Tangier was and still a famous destination of artists, singers, writers, European and American diplomats, and spies. The best way of discovering Tangier is by visiting the old town (Medina) and its Casbah, enclosed by 15th century ramparts: a distillation of the essential ingredients that make up the history of this mythical, cosmopolitan and unique city:
Its region has also a set of undeniable touristic resources. Tourists have the privilege of enjoying the amazing Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean beaches as well as doing sport or visiting the authentic villages perched on the Rif Mountains and the vestiges of the old Phoenician or Roman cities:
Thanks to its strategic position, Tangier is also an inevitable passage for maritime lines operating between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and has excellent roads and rail connections with the other cities.
The main purpose of this Project is to position Tangier and its City Port (located in the heart of the city) as a Mediterranean leading cruise and yachting destination.
Tangier, a city with a history dating back 4000 years, is a creative space that has inspired famous artists throughout the centuries. It is a multicultural city where various languages, religions, and nationalities are intertwined. Tangier’s location at the crossroads of the north and south has allowed it to combine European, Arab, and African cultures. The city is situated at the point where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean, and offers a mild climate, lush Mediterranean vegetation, and a wide beach. Tangier’s region is a top destination in the southern Mediterranean area, with many touristic attractions of the first choice.
